D4vd is now under intense scrutiny as authorities continue investigating the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas. Police discovered her dismembered remains in the trunk of a Tesla registered to the musician, and new reporting indicates that portions of her body were frozen before officers found her. TMZ says law enforcement is treating the case as a homicide and is closely examining the 20-year-old artist, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, along with a second individual.
Because of how the remains were stored, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is expected to struggle to determine how Celeste died. Sources told TMZ that her body parts were “partially frozen” and had begun thawing inside the Tesla. Investigators found her in “horrendous condition” when they searched the vehicle on September 8th. As a result, TMZ reports the cause of death “will most likely be ‘undetermined.’”
Authorities believe Burke may have been directly involved in the teen’s death. LAPD detectives have also identified another suspect they think assisted after Celeste was killed. According to TMZ founder Harvey Levin and attorney Mark Geragos, the second individual is suspected of helping dismember the remains rather than being responsible for killing her.
No one has been arrested, but investigators are actively working to connect the evidence. They are analyzing cellphone activity, internal Tesla data, and social media location information. TMZ reports police uncovered that the “Romantic Homicide” singer allegedly drove to a remote location late at night and stayed there for several hours in spring 2025. Geragos said this could become a critical detail.
Celeste was only 13 the last time her family saw her in 2024. Detectives have not confirmed her relationship to Burke, though her mother told TMZ she had a boyfriend named David. The Tesla remained parked for days on a Hollywood Hills street before being towed, revealing Celeste’s body inside.
