Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg is the latest media personality to chime in on the new Drake interview with the popular podcaster Bobbi Althoff. Rosenberg’s remark follows him saying Drake failed him with the UMG lawsuit instead of continuing to feud with Kendrick Lamar in 2024.
On September 2, the Ebro In The Morning co-host took to X with a sly jab at the 6 God. “Someone send Drake a picture of Buddy Murphy,” he tweeted, quickly circulating across social media.
The comment arrived in the wake of Drake’s appearance on Bobbi Althoff’s podcast, where the rapper surprised fans by shedding his usual cool exterior. During the conversation, Drizzy mentioned his admiration for WWE superstar Rhea Ripley. He referred to her as his “muse.”
Rosenberg’s quip tapped into that scene by invoking Buddy Murphy, the Australian-born professional wrestler who is married to Rhea Ripley. While no longer with the WWE, Buddy Murphy is best known as a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion in 2018.
Drake’s fondness for Rhea Ripley only adds to the rap star’s newfound fascination with the WWE. In March, he began following WWE superstar Liv Morgan on social media after attending the brand’s Elimination Chamber in Toronto. Peter Rosenberg began working for the WWE as a media personality in 2020.
Rosenberg’s tweet acknowledged the overlap between hip-hop and wrestling, two worlds that thrive on performance, vulnerability, and outsized personality. Drake has not commented on Rosenberg’s tweet as of press time.
Fans responded with mixed reactions. Some applauded Rosenberg’s sharp humor, while others defended Drake, praising him for humanizing himself in an industry that often discourages open displays of emotion.
In his interview with Bobbi Althoff, Drake would critique traditional journalism, praising artists like Nick Minaj and himself for “creating” a new lane for interviews through streaming collaborations with big names in the space, such as PlaqueBoyMax and Kai Cenat.
