Ice Spice is keeping Taylor Swift’s words close as she navigates the next stage of her career.
In a new NYLON cover story published September 10, the Bronx rapper credited the pop icon with advice that continues to shape her creative path.
“She keeps it so real,” Ice Spice said of Swift. “Not even kidding, but one of the biggest things that I always think about that Taylor said is, ‘As long as you keep making music, everything’s going to be fine.’”
The Grammy-nominated artist noted that Swift doesn’t dispense guidance every time they talk. Their conversations usually drift toward food, travel, or whatever fills the moment.
Still, when the subject shifts to music, Swift’s perspective resonates. “Whenever I’m feeling doubtful or not as confident, having writer’s block no matter what it is, things like that really, really stand out to me,” Ice Spice added. She first heard the advice years ago, but it remains an anchor today.
Their friendship crystallized in 2023 with the release of “Karma (Remix),” which racked up more than five million streams in its debut weekend. The track broke streaming records and brought Ice Spice onto Swift’s Eras Tour stage at MetLife Stadium, one of the defining moments of her young career. She later joined the chorus of artists celebrating Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department in 2024, signaling their bond extends well beyond music.
Now 24, Ice Spice is preparing a new era of her own. Her forthcoming single, “Baddie Baddie,” reimagines M.I.A.’s global anthem “Bad Girls,” offering a bold sample flip and a vision tailored to her generation. She teased the record in August and confirmed that a music video will arrive with its release.
“I’m very excited to drop a visual more than anything, and I’m going to pace myself,” she said. “When I drop this visual, I’m going to let my fans soak it up.”
She’s also riding momentum from “Gyatt,” her first collaboration with Latto, which expanded her reach in hip-hop’s current wave. Between headline collaborations, a growing catalog, and the kind of counsel that only a superstar like Swift can provide, Ice Spice appears firmly locked into her ascent.
