Cardi B is speaking out about the criticism surrounding her love life, clarifying why she chose to leave Offset and move forward with Stefon Diggs.
The Bronx-born rapper, 32, addressed fans who questioned why she would separate from her estranged husband, a fellow Grammy winner, only to begin dating the Buffalo Bills star — who himself has faced headlines about alleged infidelity. For Cardi, however, the decision was about far more than rumors of cheating.
“How you separate from a cheater to go to somebody else…” Cardi said, quoting her critics before giving her side of the story. She explained that her marriage to Offset had spiraled to a point where the stress became unbearable, eventually impacting her mental and physical health.
“I had to go to a hospital ’cause I couldn’t take it no more. A HOSPITAL,” she revealed.

The rapper went on to explain that even her management team and label became alarmed, stepping in after realizing how much the situation was interfering with her ability to record and perform.
“When you have management and your label getting together because they are concerned, it’s time to go,” she said. “When it’s affecting your work, when you can’t even record, it’s time to go, and I left.”
Cardi’s candid comments reflect a deeper story than the public’s focus on cheating. She suggested that the marriage had grown toxic in ways unseen by fans, and that stepping away was necessary for her own well-being.
Now, as she prepares to welcome her first child with Diggs, Cardi says she is in a better space emotionally. “I don’t know, I just feel like I’ve been so happy,” she shared. “I’ve been so happy for this pregnancy, and I’ve been so motivated.”
