Bow Wow is opening up about the reality of dating him, especially with the lifestyle that comes with being a well-known artist. During his appearance on Million Dollaz Worth of Game, the rapper and actor broke down why relationships have been difficult over the years, even when he’s genuinely trying to do right by the women he dates. He shares children with Joie Chavis and Olivia Sky, and says women often struggle with the constant attention he gets in public.
Around the 51-minute mark, Bow Wow explained that being raised in the industry under Jermaine Dupri shaped him in ways he’s still dealing with today. Being mentored by the So So Def founder, he joked, “cursed” him. “‘Cause in situations where I like this girl and I’m putting my best foot forward and I’m really fucking with her and I’m trying to do the right thing, I’ve learned me being me, even when I’m doing the right thing, doing the wrong thing,” he said.
He recalled moments where innocent interactions were blown out of proportion, like the time he simply asked a female bartender for cranberry juice and was accused of “talking to bitches.” His reaction? “I might as well fuck the bartender then, the way you getting at me,” he continued.
Bow Wow said he’s even brought girlfriends on tour and to strip clubs hoping transparency would help, but those experiences often turned into a “nightmare.” He then shared a memory from “my 18th birthday party or 19th, one of them,” when he walked in hand-in-hand with a “famous girl” he was dating. As they entered, another woman slipped him her number.
He emphasized that dating someone with his level of fame means dealing with nonstop attention. Groupies, he said, are like “the wild wild west.” “They going to keep coming… You have to be mentally tough for this shit.” No matter the city, even “humbuck fuck, Alabama”, he claims there are always “50, 60 girls backstage.”
Earlier this year, on Club Shay Shay, he revealed he lost his virginity at fifteen but didn’t “crack the code” on casual dating until he was eighteen.
