This hurricane season is already off to an impactful start after Harvey ran through the Houston area in late August with devestating floods and record breaking destruction and floods through the area.
Hurricane Irma is next, and it looks to be more powerful than Harvey.
With 180 mph winds and 220 mph gusts, the storm has recently become one of the strongest in recent memory as a Category 5 storm.
To put it in perspective, according to the National Weather Service it is now the strongest storm in the Atlantic Ocean and close to the all-time record of 190 mph.
As of 1pm EST, the storm is expected to land on top of Puerto Rico Wednesday, and through many of the Carribean island before possibility touching down on Florida on Sunday. Both Florida and Puerto Rico have declared a state of emergency with the National Guard being deployed.
