The ongoing trial of Young Thug and his YSL co-defendants entered its 50th day with a dramatic confrontation between one of the rapper’s lawyers and a witness. Identified only as A. Bennett, the witness affirmed feeling “sexually harassed” by an investigator from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, as stated by Young Thug’s attorney, Keith Adams.
“You told us when you were back there that you didn’t want to come and see him because he had sexually harassed you,” Adams questioned, to which Bennett replied, “Yes.” She further agreed that the investigator’s actions implied he wanted to pursue a romantic relationship.
Bennett recounted an instance where she brought her son to meet with Adams, and the investigator expressed interest in dating her after the investigation. Initially called by the prosecution to discuss allegations of robbery against Young Thug, Walter “DK” Murphy, and someone she believed to be the rapper’s brother in 2013, Bennett was taken into custody after resisting appearing in court.
She described being harassed by numerous calls unrelated to the case, leading her to block the investigator’s number. Bennett claimed law enforcement surrounded her house and detained her son, causing distress. Additionally, she stated losing her job due to frequent meetings with the prosecution.
With Bennett’s testimony, the trial has become the longest-running in Georgia’s history. The courtroom exchange reveals challenges for witnesses in high-profile cases. It raises questions about law enforcement conduct and justice pursuit.
