Wrestling Fans React To Vince McMahon’s Departure From WWE

The infamous CEO of WWE, Vince McMahon, recently announced that he will be stepping down after over 40 years. 

The wrestling mogul has decided to step down after facing a series of allegations, including sexual misconduct. According to a WWE memo that surfaced online, McMahon has resigned as chairman of TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE. The memo had been obtained by CNBC and was confirmed by current WWE president Nick Khan.  

“Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. He will no longer have a role with TKO Group Holdings or WWE,” said Nick Khan, president of the WWE. 

While McMahon has denied all allegations, he did release a statement about his departure: “Out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately.”

McMahon initially stepped down after allegations began to arise around mid-2022 but later returned in 2023. However, he had no choice but to end his term after being hit with a lawsuit by a woman named Janel Grant, who claimed that he forced her to have sexual relations with an unnamed wrestling star and several other men.

The latest complaint comes only six months after a federal investigation was opened against McMahon regarding million-dollar payouts to multiple women, among them Grant.  

Since the news, wrestling fans have had mixed reactions to the situation. One fan tweeted, “FINALLY. ABOUT DAMN TIME.” While another fan seemed saddened by McMahon’s departure, “Omg [shocked emoji] I thought I would never witness Vince being gone!”
