Going into the new year, you never know what to expect in the entertainment world. In 2023 some of our favorite couples called it quits, some lawsuits were made public and a lot more.
Cassie Releases A Lawsuit Against Diddy
Diddy has had an interesting year as his Brother Love persona became questionable after his ex-girlfriend and music collabrator, Cassie, sued him for sexual assault, domestic voilence and more. “After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships” Cassie expressed in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit stated when Cassie was 19, “[Diddy] began a pattern of control and abuse that included plying her with drugs, beating her and forcing her to have sex with a succession of male prostitutes while he filmed the encounters. In 2018, the suit says, near the end of their relationship, Mr. Combs forced his way into her home and raped her.”
Cassie and Diddy reached a settlement one day after the lawsuit was filed. Since then, several other people have come out and accused Diddy of sexual assault and more. He has also stepped down as Chairman of REVOLT Tv. He however, denies allegations. In a statement he expresses, “for the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.”
The statement continues, “sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth. Sean Diddy Combs.”

Megan Thee Stallion & Pardi Call It Quits – Details It Through Music
Megan Thee Stallion and her boyfriend, Pardison Fontaine called it quits. Many fans of the couple strongly felt like the two would be soon getting married- however, things took a turn int he opposite direction when Megan Thee Stallion calmed that Pardi cheated on her.
Pardi denies “physically” cheating on her, but does admit to entertaining other women. During an interview he explains, “listen, I’m a person that believes love doesn’t go away. It changes. And that’s another thing I’ve stated. I’ll always want well for her. I’m not a person that wants bad for her. I’m not out here calling her all types of such and such.”
Megan says she is simply trying to heal.
Tory Lanez Trial
Megan Thee Stallion’s relationship wasn’t the only topic of discussion this year. Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison after reportedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. He was charged with felony negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm.
The canadian rapper released a statement following the sentencing. “In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do.”
The statement continued, “I’ve faced adversity my whole life and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious.”
Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Memoir Brings Details On Relationship w/ Will Smith
Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith had the internet talking for what feels like the whole year. During the release of Jada’s memoir, Worthy, the actress revealed she and Will Smith haven’t been together in seven years although they are still legally married.
“We’re still figuring it out,” Jada said. “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”
She explains what caused the separation. “Why it fractured, that’s a lot of things,” the actress added. “I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
She does go on to say that the two will work it out by any means necessary. We keep you updated you on the status of their relationship in 2024.
Ashanti & Nelly Get Back Together!
A lot of love was in the air this year but one couple in particular shocked us as the reconillation was wanted but unexpected. Nelly revealed that he and Ashanti are officially back together- giving fans total nostalga. He explained, “I think it surprised both of us. It wasn’t anything planned. We were both doing what we do. Sometimes being separated you understand each other more.”
He continued, “it’s no pressure. Before I felt like both of us were doing what we were doing career wise and when you got some many people in the middle of it, it can be tough.
The couple previously had an on-again-off-again relationship since 2003 but officially called it quits back in 2013.
