Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has received an onslaught of online attacks from fans, and it seems SZA has had enough. According to the “Good Days” singer, it’s “classic misogynoir.” SZA was responding to an Instagram post about how Erivo memes have gotten “out of hand.” The trolling seemed to increase only after a red carpet incident where a fan tried to approach her co-star, Ariana Grande, and she helped move her out of the way and comfort her.

Since then, there have been dozens of memes depicting Erivo as a man. “[I] can’t believe it’s openly a thing in 2025,” SZA continued. “… Everyone’s gonna have cognitive dissonance 2 years later like ‘remember when everyone attacked Cynthia for being black, bald, and nurturing?… that was crazy’…it could just stop now lol 🤷🏾‍♀️”

SZA Supports Megan Thee Stallion Amid Tory Lanez Claiming He’s Innocent

SZA has always been the kind of person to speak her mind, especially when it comes to defending Black women. Earlier this year, she jumped in the comments of another Instagram user who claimed that Tory Lanez didn’t shoot Megan Thee Stallion. “The density !!!!! I’m actually SO shocked at the amount of ppl fully comfortable bullying a woman that’s proven to be a victim of assault ??!” SZA wrote. “Like out loud where other ppl can see you ?? Lmao u finna be stupid OUTLOUD?”

SZA’s remarks stem from a claim made by Unite the People, “a nonprofit organization that advocates for social justice and affordable legal services in California.” On May 14, during a press conference, Walter Roberts, the organization’s “lead consultant,” said a new testimony could’ve exonerated Lanez. According to Roberts, Bradley James identified himself as the bodyguard and driver for Kelsey Harris, a key witness and a former friend of Megan.
