Ice Spice is set to make her acting debut alongside Denzel Washington in Spike Lee’s upcoming project.
Variety reports that the film spearheaded by Spike Lee is an English-language reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s crime thriller High and Low, in partnership with A24 and Apple.
The 1963 film featuring Toshiro Mifune was adapted from the Ed McBain novel “King’s Ransom,” portraying the downfall of a businessman after paying ransom to kidnappers.

While this marks the rapper’s first small screen credit, the upcoming film will be the fifth collaboration between Washington and Lee, their first since Inside Man (2006). The dynamic duo also teamed up for collaborated on Mo’ Better Blues (1990), Malcolm X (1992), He Got Game (1998).
Born Isis Gaston, the 23-year-old rapper burst onto the scene in 2021 with the release of two singles: “Bully Freestyle” in March 2021 and “No Clarity” in November 2021; backed by son of Hot 97’s DJ Enuff, RiotUSA.
However, it wasn’t until the summer of 2022 that the Bronx native’s single “Munch (Feelin’ U)” propelled her to Internet fame. The song took TikTok by storm, a popular platform for emerging artists. Excitement peaked when Drake shared the track on his SiriusXM channel, Sound 42 Radio, adding to the buzz.
In the years since, Ice Spice has released a series of songs including “Deli,” “Boy’s a liar Pt 2,” featuring PinkPantheress, “Barbie World,” in collaboration with Nicki Minaj, and an EP Like..?. Further, the curly-coiffed star announced earlier this year, that she’s finished recording her highly-anticipated debut album Y2K.
In a chat with Variety in September, Ice Spice spilled the beans, revealing that while a release date, tracklist, and song counts remains a mystery, she’s reunited with RiotUSA, set to dominate the credits.
