Ye is facing legal trouble in Brazil ahead of his upcoming concert in São Paulo. The São Paulo State Prosecutor’s Office has instructed local police to arrest the rapper and anyone involved in the event if he makes any statements or performs songs that could be viewed as supporting Nazism. Officials stated that “if he sings a song or makes any apology for Nazism,” Ye and his team should be detained immediately.
The order reportedly extends to the concert’s producers, Guilherme Cavalcante and Jean Fabrício Ramos, also known as Faublous Fabz, who could face legal consequences if they fail to stop any prohibited acts during the performance. The directive came after a formal complaint was filed by São Paulo councilwoman Cris Monteiro with the 2nd Public Prosecutor’s Office for Human Rights. The complaint specifically aims to prevent Ye from performing his controversial track “Heil Hitler” or using Nazi symbols during his appearance in Brazil.
To ensure compliance, the Prosecutor’s Office has authorized the Cyber GAECO, a special police unit that investigates organized crime and digital offenses, to monitor the concert closely. This includes overseeing both the live event and any related activity on Ye’s social media platforms while he is in the country.
Brazil has strict laws against promoting hate speech, racial discrimination, or Nazi ideology, and violations can lead to arrest and prosecution. The move underscores the seriousness with which authorities intend to enforce these laws. Although Ye’s show is still scheduled to proceed, the warning from prosecutors has created major uncertainty around the performance. With law enforcement on high alert, all eyes will be on São Paulo to see whether the rapper abides by the restrictions, or risks being taken into custody during his concert.
