When referred to as the leader of the new school, artists usually proceed with caution or humbly respond. However, Rich The Kid, CEO of Rich Forever Music, a name that bears implications of monetary growth and sustainability, will be sure to remind you he is just that. “We are the new wave,” Rich The Kid shares as he flashes a glimpse of his $30,000 dental investment.
For the majority of consumers, Rich The Kid’s success might seem rapid, but his voice has been bubbling prior to his first mixtape, Been About the Benjamins, which was released five years ago.
Born Dimitri Rogers in Queens, New York, Rich The Kid and his mother, following a divorce, moved to Atlanta when he was 13. It was there that rappers dominating the South recognized the NY transplant as a promising rapper. It wasn’t long until he became a consistent feature on songs from Migos, Young Thug, PeeWee Longway, and OG Mago and now other artists want a feature on his songs.
Since stepping out of the Atlanta scene, Rich The Kid has collaborated with musical superstars across multiple genres. Recently, he teamed up with Diplo on “Bankroll,” which features Justin Bieber and Young Thug. Meanwhile his single, “New Freezer” featuring Kendrick Lamar, has continued to climb the charts.
Rich The Kid sees opportunity in many other young artists. He has already built an impressive roster at Rich Forever. His first signee, Famous Dex by way of Chicago, rocketed to fame shortly after signing with the group. Rich The Kid uses every platform as an opportunity to promote his team. When Hip-Hop Mike asked him about the upcoming show, he appropriately deflected with this response, “Jay Critch is the best rapper out of New York.” Jay Critch, a Brooklyn artist, is the newest member of Rich Forever.
Next Friday, Rich The Kid is headlining a sold-out show at the PlayStation Theater in Times Square. The show will be opened by our very own DJ Funk Flex. The “New Freezer” rapper told us discovering that the show was sold out is a “wonderful feeling.” His Rich Forever crew and other guests will accompany him.
After accruing mainstream success at this rate some artists might slow down, but Rich The Kid assured us that he plans on expanding. “I got new artists on the way…I’m not stopping,” he shared with Hip-Hop Mike. Perhaps with his work ethic and vision for the future the moniker, Rich Forever, accurately foreshadows his intended future.
