Nelly recalls making 50 Cent publicly apologizing to Ashanti.
In a recent episode of the Joe & Jada Podcast, hosted by Fat Joe and Jadakiss, Nelly says during the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, amid the long-standing tension between G-Unit and Murder Inc. Nelly recalled Ashanti approaching him and asking if he could get 50 Cent to apologize to her for his past comments during the highly publicized beef. Nelly agreed and took it upon himself to mediate the situation.
“I asked her, ‘You want me to say something to Fif?’ and she said, ‘Yes,’” Nelly explained on the podcast. He then walked over to 50 Cent, relayed the message. Without hesitation, 50 turned and called out to Ashanti in front of the crowd: “Ashanti, I’m sorry!”
50 Cent caught wind of the now viral podcast clip circulating online and decided to weigh in. Reposting it to his Instagram, the “In Da Club” rapper confirmed the story and gave Nelly his props.
“This is true, no cap detected,” 50 wrote. “I always liked Moe. He took off when I got hit—I was hurt, I couldn’t do nothing but watch the TV.”
The humorous admission drew reactions from fans and peers alike, with rapper DaBaby jumping in the comments with laughing emojis, adding to the playful nostalgia surrounding the moment.
