Kendrick Lamar knows fans are waiting for new music, but he’s in no rush.
During an interview Kendrick did with his protégée Baby Keem, Kendrick spoke on why his recording process takes so long. It’s been three years since his last album, DAMN. For Kendrick, it’s not just about “making a song” it’s a process behind it. He said,
“I spend the whole year just thinking about how I’m gonna execute a new sound, I can’t do the same thing over and over. I need something to get me excited.”
He also spoke on his evolution. Kendrick says he doesn’t plan on doing a remake of his 2012 good kid, m.A.A.d city part two, he feels that’s “corny.” “The second I’m making that, it’s corny bro. That takes the feeling away from the first. I need that muhfu**a to live in its own world.”

A new album was supposed to drop this year but due to the pandemic, things got pushed back. However, Kendrick was spotted allegedly shooting a music video last month, which could mean music is on the way. There were also rumors that Kendrick was leaving TDE, but it’s not true.
