Kanye West Says Will Smith Is One Of His ‘Biggest Inspirations’

Kanye West gives Will Smith his flowers.

During a recent X rant, the rapper says Smith is one of his greatest influences. “Will Smith is one of my biggest inspirations This n*gga really became the biggest movie star in the world Married the baddest actress Raised brilliant children And still got that drive..”

Kanye’s sentiments are in response to Smith’s recent Lyrical Lemonade freestyle.

In the “Lunch Break” freestyle, Smith declares himself the G.O.A.T.  “Hip Hop’s Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo / Goooal! Scored on these boys / I’ve won damn near every award on these boys / Sold-out movie theaters and even tours on these boys / Feelin’ like a mop, wipe the floor with these boys.” 

He also addresses the infamous 2022 Chris Rock slap. He raps: “I be overcoming shit that y’all be having trouble with / Let ’em run they mouths, I mean really, that’s what come with this / They built a wall but I’m jumping it and loving it / They want me to be done with it, but I’m still havin’ fun with it.”

Smith recently dropped a new album titled “Based on a True Story.” Preparing for the project, Smith says he got inspiration from music icons such as JAY-Z and Kendrick Lamar. “Before I started [the album], I made two phone calls. I talked to Jay and I talked to Kendrick. I said, ‘Hey, I want to get back to music. What’s the advice?’”

Smith says JAY-Z urged him to stay true to himself. “Don’t fake your story. You gotta say what’s true for you.” Kendrick suggested he, “say that sh*t you’ve always been f*cking scared to say.”
