Fox Sports has ended its partnership with popular sports analyst and host Joy Taylor, marking the conclusion of a notable and contentious chapter in the network’s recent history.
According to The Athletic, Fox chose not to renew Taylor’s contract, which is set to expire this summer. The move comes amid a broader programming shakeup at FS1, including the cancellation of three shows: Speak, Breakfast Ball, and The Facility.
Taylor co-hosted Speak alongside former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson and ex-NBA player Paul Pierce. Sources cited low ratings as a primary reason behind the cancellations.
Taylor, 38, emerged over the last decade as one of the most prominent Black women in sports broadcasting. Her work on The Herd, Undisputed, and Speak established her as a sharp voice in a space still dominated by men. Her exit, however, arrives following a series of personal and professional challenges.
Earlier this year, Taylor’s name was linked to a lawsuit filed against Fox Sports by former network hairstylist Noushin Faraji. The complaint alleged a toxic work environment and claimed Taylor had inappropriate relationships with former executive Charlie Dixon and commentator Emmanuel Acho to advance her career. Taylor has denied the accusations and is not listed as a defendant in the case.
In a June appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast, Taylor addressed the scrutiny and described the toll it has taken. She likened the experience to navigating a period of grief.
“You can’t decide who you’ll be while it’s happening,” she said. “I’m trying to be patient with myself and adjust to a new reality.”
The emotional candor resonated with audiences familiar with the double standards often faced by women in media. Taylor’s departure also sheds light on Fox Sports’ workplace culture, which has faced past allegations of gender-based misconduct and discrimination.
Despite the controversy, Taylor has remained visible on social media and in podcast appearances, signaling she may be preparing for her next chapter outside of the traditional sports media machine. While the nature of her future projects remains unclear, the path ahead may reflect a pivot toward greater independence.
