After claims surfaced last week that former Motown CEO Ethiopia Habtemariam would testify against Sean “Diddy” Combs in his current lawsuit with Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, Habtemariam confirmed she would not do so.
AllHipHop broke the news on Monday (April 1) that Habtemariam issued a statement directed at the claims made by Jones’ attorney Tyrone Blackburn that she would testify against Diddy.
“I am informed and believe that Mr. Blackburn has falsely represented to various social media sites and other media outlets that I agreed to ‘testify against’ Mr. Combs,” Habtemariam said. “This is completely untrue. I have no personal knowledge of any alleged wrongdoing by Mr. Combs, and there is nothing I could testify to that would be against his interest.”
Habtemariam was among the group named in Jones’s 30 million dollar sexual assault lawsuit filed against Diddy in February following the mogul’s settlement with ex-girlfriend Cassie for an undisclosed amount. According to the producer’s lawsuit, Habtemariam allegedly trafficked sex workers, distributed drugs, and participated in RICO Enterprise activities with others while Jones was recording Diddy’s latest album with him between September and November 2023.
Habtemariam denies all claims in the lawsuit and shares that the allegation attacks her professional integrity.
“Being falsely accused of criminal conduct is deeply upsetting to me,” said Habtemariam. “I did no wrong. I never saw or participated in any alleged racketeering enterprise, and I never saw, aided or, abetted, or tried to conceal any sex trafficking activity. In short, there is no basis for any of the claims asserted against me, and I should never have been named a defendant in this lawsuit.”
Jones and his attorney dropped Habtemariam from the lawsuit on March 29. She refutes Jones’s attorney’s false accusation of her involvement while proving her innocence.
“My counsel provided a revised declaration that addressed the topics that Mr. Blackburn addressed and corrected his false narrative,” she said. “I am aware that Mr. Blackburn found my truthful version to be unsatisfactory to him and he presented yet another version that again presented a false narrative.”
Despite the headlines surrounding his multiple sexual assault suits, Diddy was seen out with his daughters enjoying quality time last week, calling the raid on his properties a witch hunt.
