The rivalry between women’s boxing champions Claressa Shields (14-0) and Alycia Baumgardner (15-1) escalates as hip-hop gets involved, with Shields releasing a diss track on Wednesday (April 10).

Centered around a Maybach wearing all her belts, the undefeated champion flips GloRilla’s hit song, “Yeah Glo!” with her version, titled “Yeah GWOAT.” In the song, Shields flexes her accomplishments in boxing, references Baumgardner’s past cheating allegations, claims superiority, and more.

“Even on your best day, you couldn’t hurt me,” Shields raps. “What I look cutting 30 for a b*tch who drop dirty, n***a.”

Baumgardner immediately responded to Shields’ diss with an Instagram post of her taking photos with GloRilla herself. Her caption referenced “Yeah Glo!” with, “Keep runnin’ circles around these snail ho** [yarning emoji] [bomb emoji] .”

The diss track follows Shields and Baumgardner’s fiery encounter last weekend in Las Vegas. It’s claimed Shields slapped Baumgardner’s hand during the conversation. Bad blood has been boiling since 2023, and they have exchanged rants on social media.

The GWOAT’s track joins an extremely competitive women’s hip-hop landscape. 2024 is the year of beef: Megan vs. Nicki, Latto vs. Ice Spice, GloRilla vs. JT, and Bia vs. Cardi B.

Hailing from Michigan, Shields has a lengthy history in rap, including various videos of her recording music. Proving that her verses are as sharp as her hands.

From Ali to Mayweather to Broner, the greats have always used rap as a promotional tool with sold-out stadium results.

Negotiations between Shields and Baumgardner have been in the works for months, and there are accusations that Baumgardner declined a previous offer. The potential is one of boxing’s most sought-after.

“Yeah Glo!” is featured on GloRilla’s latest mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang. On CMG/Interscope, the mixtape features Megan Thee Stallion, Moneybagg Yo, Boston Richey, Kevo Muney, and Finesse2tymes.
