Beyoncé has expressed her gratitude to Jack White, lead singer of the rock duo The White Stripes, for his pivotal contribution to her new album, Cowboy Carter.
On Tuesday (April 2), Jack hit socials where he shared a handwritten note from Queen B, revealing “how much you inspired me on this record.”
“What a sweet gesture to receive here in Nashville this morning from the talented and gracious @beyonce celebrating her new Cowboy Carter album,” he wrote alongside a snapshot of a bouquet, inside of which was the note. “Much love and respect to you Madam, and thank you kindly. Keep making beautiful and powerful music, nobody sings like you.” -Jack White III #cowboycarter #beyonce”
The duo previously collaborated on “Don’t Hurt Yourself” for Beyoncé’s 2016 album Lemonade. White co-produced the track, sharing his excitement about working together with NPR. ‘I’ve always loved her voice – I mean, I think she has the kind of soul singing voice of the days of Betty Davis or Aretha Franklin.”
He continued, “She took just sort of a sketch of a lyrical outline and turned into the most bodacious, vicious, incredible song. I don’t even know what you’d classify it as — soul, rock and roll, whatever. ‘Don’t Hurt Yourself’ is incredibly intense; I’m so amazed at what she did with it.”
Act ii: Cowboy Carter features Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Willie Nelson, Willie Jones, Linda Martell, Shaboozey, and Tiera Kennedy.
According to HITS Daily Double, Beyoncé’s new album is expected to surpass 350,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, securing the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart for 2024 — exceeding Renaissance, by about 20,000 units. Cowboy Carter also set several first-day streaming records, becoming Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day for 2024.
