Freddie Gibbs attempts to lighten the mood as Kendrick Lamar’s “Big 3” diss gains momentum.

On Friday (March 22), Gibbs hit X (formerly Twitter) where he weighed in on Kendrick Lamar‘s attention-grabbing verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” — fresh off their new collaborative album We Don’t Trust You.

On the track, K. Dot delivers the iconic line: “Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Muthafuck the big three, n-gga, it’s just big me/ N-gga, bum, what? I’m really like that”

He then appears to reference  Prince and Michael Jackson’s former, long-standing rivalry, rapping: “And your best work is a light pack/ N-gga, Prince outlived Mike Jack.”

No stranger to making comparisons to MJ, having tied the King of Pop for the most chart-topping songs by a male solo artist with “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole, fans speculated the MJ/Prince remark was aimed at Drizzy.

Now, Freddie, who like Michael Jackson, is a native of Gary, Indiana, delivered his take on the feud with a hilarious message that addresses everything but the beef itself.

“First of all Mike ain’t dead,” he tweeted, prompting a variety of reactions from fans.

“This man Freddie stay hi,” wrote one fan. “Out there passing out chicken in Gary still,” a second comment reads.

“I’m just here for all the comments that don’t know this is a running joke from Gibbs,” a third user wrote.

The concept of a “the big three” has been discussed for years, but gained traction when J. Cole referenced himself, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake in “First Person Shooter” last October. He cemeted his status at the top of the rap game, by likening himself to the legendary Muhammad Ali.

Love when they argue the hardest MC/ Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/ We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali,” he rapped.

On the flip side, Drake subtly shaded Kendric by asserting that he and Cole alone hold the title of “greatest of all time.”

Who the G.O.A.T.? Who you bitches really rooting for?/ Like a kid that act bad from January to November, n-gga, it’s just you and Cole,” he spit.
