Disney’s reboot of The Little Mermaid just got super lit!
Halle Bailey announced on IG that she landed a role in the classic kid’s movie. She’ll be the first African-American female to play “Ariel.”
Director Rob Marshall said that Halle “possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” according to a news report.
The 19-year-old singer, along with her sister Chloe, 21, was discovered and signed by Beyonce back in 2013.
