Cardi B isn’t holding back after podcaster Crissle West delivered stinging criticism about the rapper’s pregnancy.
On a recent episode of The Read, co-hosts Kid Fury and Crissle West discussed Cardi’s announcement that she’s expecting her fourth child — her first with boyfriend Stefon Diggs. West questioned the timing of the pregnancy, noting that it coincides with Cardi’s long-awaited album rollout and upcoming tour.
West suggested the Bronx star may not have been “mindful and deliberate” about family planning. She speculated that Cardi might undergo a “mommy makeover” procedure before hitting the road. West warned she could “die on the table.”
The commentary didn’t stop there — West raised doubts about whether Cardi had fully considered how pregnancy, promotion, and recovery would overlap, while also taking jabs at her past relationships and parenting style.

The pointed remarks quickly caught Cardi’s attention, and the Grammy winner fired back.
In a fiery response, Cardi said the comments about her motherhood were especially cruel. “Like, why would you say … I hope you don’t die on a mommy makeover … and you know, I got four kids!” she shot back. The rapper explained that harsh public scrutiny was one reason she delayed announcing her pregnancy in the first place.
Cardi emphasized that despite her packed schedule, her children remain her top priority. “My kids are very attached to me,” she said, adding that she makes a constant effort to balance career demands with being present at home. She also slammed West’s speculation about surgery and death as “dark” and “nasty.”
Defending her parenting, Cardi stressed that she gives her children “a lot of time and a lot of love,” not just material support.
The heated back-and-forth has fueled a larger conversation online about body autonomy, celebrity motherhood, and the often invasive scrutiny famous women face when balancing family and career. While West framed her critique as concern, many fans felt the tone crossed the line into cruelty — especially the suggestion that Cardi’s choices could put her life at risk.
Cardi, for her part, has made clear she won’t let anyone diminish her role as both superstar and mother.
